Promise Part I The Chosen One is a book of urban fiction. It is based on a character Promise who was born in the South and did not find out he was a foster child until the day of his foster mother’s death. He had heard whispers throughout his life that he was a ‘tricks’ baby and was ashamed to tell anyone about the origin of his birth or his birth parents. Upon his foster mother’s death, Promise escaped the system of numerous foster homes by migrating to Newark New Jersey. It was his foster mother’s dying declaration for him to live with a couple who gave her their word to raise Promise if anything happened to her. Promise arrives at the infamous Lincoln Motel and is immediately exposed to the work of players and women. He instantly becomes fascinated with the life of a player and yearns to be a full time member of its street fraternity. Promise is taught vital secrets of the game by Silk who becomes Promise’s mentor to the art of being a true player. Promise shows he has an innate ability to grasp the essential elements of the game and meets a woman named Ming who helps him rise to the top. She exposes him to an ultimate danger that possesses the potential to rob him of his life but not before he takes the pimp world by storm and elevates the game to another level right before the eyes of the entire world of players. He simultaneously discovers the mystery of who his mother and father really are.

A near death experience has Promise holding onto life with both hands. Trapped in a coma, no one knows if he will ever wake up to run the massive stable he left behind.

Promise is dreaming and living in the year of 1533. He arrives on the day of Princess Elizabeth I’s birth, in a place he knows nothing about. The people look at him as if he’s an alien as they had never seen a green eyed man, who looked, or spoke like him before.

Once Promise realized he’s stuck there, he stakes out to find a way to take care of himself. He had never been a man menial work. He was striving to find a way to duplicate the way he had lived in a world he couldn’t find his way back to.

The world is one where Madams are in charge and men are only customers at these brothels and whorehouses. For a man to be involved in this profession, is unheard of, yet Promise used it as a vehicle to place him in the midst of powerful men in England.

Promise meets Elizabeth after her father, King Henry, has her birth mother beheaded and labels her and her older sister Mary as bastards to the crown.

Promise predicts her life will change. Once the prophecy is fulfilled, he makes sure it is to the throne, avoiding the attempts on her life.

Finally, Promise gives up on ever going home. He settles on living in this strange place as the advisor to the Queen of England. On the day she dies, so does he.

After seven years the King of Pimping has finally awakened. He owns nothing but the memories of who he used to be before his near-death experience.

His first question was where was his family and his stable of women? The doctor told him slowly they just stopped coming but there is someone who has been calling every day asking if he is awake as yet. Promise believed it was Hakis and he wanted to finish the job.

Promise’s only possession is his game and willingness to supersede the level where he was before his seven years hiatus. But will his past rob him of the chance to become pimp of the year for the second time. Or will he die trying?
